I have recently been diagnosed with an AN and have a consult with Dr. John Frazee at UCLA this coming Tuesday.
I was googling his name in hopes of finding some good experiences associated with it. So far, I’ve only been able to find yours. If you have a moment and feel like answering my (annoying) questions, I would be super grateful.

I am a 32 year old female. I saw one neurosurgeon today who bugged the crap out of me. I felt like he was lying to me the whole time. Like I haven’t spent a million hours researching this already.

Anyway, I’m curious if Dr. Frazee did a total endoscopic resection or if he did a partial endoscopic resection. I ask because I’ve read a lot of negative things about total endoscopic resection. I’ve read that the tumor can bleed and that the hole made does not leave enough room for surgeons to use other tools to control bleeding. I’ve also read that the light from the tip of the endoscope gets so hot that it can burn tissue.

Dr. Frazee SEEMS like the best but I would feel great if I could just talk to somebody who’s been treated by him. Did you experience any facial paralysis? Hearing loss? Balance issues? Did you have vertigo and/or dizziness as one of your symptoms before surgery? Did you have vertigo and/or dizziness issues post op?

I understand if you take some time to respond, I know it’s difficult to find time to do things like this.

You mention here that you sometimes offer a 10 minute or so phone call so if you’d rather do that you may call me here: 510.333.0230
    Or email me at:

    Thank you for your time!
